MAEER's, Maharashtra Institute of Technology (MIT) was founded by Dr. Vishwanath D. Karad, (Founder, Executive President and Director General) along with the collective efforts of many Educationalists, Scientists and Social thinkers in the year 1983.

MIT School of Distance Education (MITSDE) is fully geared up to offer professional education in distance learning mode with the help of e-learning via Learning Management Software/System (LMS). The LMS gives round-the-clock back-up access to distance education, knowledge assessment, instructor guidance and certification.

MITSDE courses are completely flexible. Students can begin whenever they like and learn 1.5 times more than that of a typical classroom program. MITSDE provides the teaching modules together with assignment providing support via telephone and e-mail. The courses are packed with information and are intensive in their approach.

The courses are based on the concept of open learning rather than distance learning. This ensures that students are not left studying at home in isolation, but are automatically made a part of the MIT association.

MIT School of Distance Education (MITDSE) was established in 2005 with an objective of offering professional courses through online distance learning (ODL) mode. Part of the MIT Group, MITSDE has recognition from DEC, Govt. of India.

Assam down town University was thus born on the passage of the bill by Assam Government on 29th April, 2010.

Established by The Down Town Charity Trust, Assam down town University (ADTU) is the second private university to be set up in Assam. As per the provisions of the Assam Private Universities Act 2007, the Trust has successfully received University Status for its Panikhaiti campus in 2010.

With an aim to expand the frontiers of knowledge beyond the four walls of the classroom, ADTU has embarked on expanding its reach through new academic alliances & study options.
